Adjusting Your Insides Will Show on the Outside!

2020 has been a year to remember, that is for sure and probably not in the most positive light. I think we all can agree, we are looking forward to happier, normal times.

Even though there have been a lot of challenges in 2020, during uncertain times, we receive the rare opportunity to dig deep inside our own souls, take stock of what is truly important, let go of outdated ways of thinking, stop all the “busy-ness” of life, and reinvent ourselves in a way that is authentic.

Focus On What You Can Control and Let the Rest Work Itself Out!

There are things in life we have little to no control over, and although we may not like it, that is a fact. In our discovery of what is truly important in our lives, what we value and what deserves our time and attention, I would encourage you to recognize when you’re feeling off, sad, angry, anxious, frustrated or fearful as the first step to gain some control. Whenever you’re focusing on things or situations you have no control over, the result is negative feelings and frustration. Awareness is the first step to shift yourself into positive change, regardless of circumstances. Secondly, our habitual thinking is interrupted as our routines change through no fault or choice of our own. This may leave you feeling empty and uncertain, or give you the chance to look around at your environment, yourself and the relationships in your life and assess if this is really “you.” Or, perhaps you’ve been on autopilot, living a life full of activities that do not truly fulfill you or feed your soul. Take a moment to be fully present with your environment, with yourself, and decide. You may ask, “Have I been living the life I always wanted for myself? Or, am I living life based on societal standards? Has what I’ve been doing every day really making me happy or am I like a Zombie stuck in an old routine, based on outdated beliefs about what is true?” Change Offers Us the Opportunity to Re-Evaluate Happiness is not a product of accumulating things or living up to standards we did not create for ourselves. Happiness comes from within you and you may claim it no matter what situation you find yourself in. There are many things to be grateful for. “The Reason You Are Unhappy is Because You Resist What is!” Eckart Tolle, The Power of Now Stop resisting things you cannot control and adjust your focus to what is possible for you right now, in this moment. And in this moment you can choose happiness, you may choose anxiety….either way the choice is yours. Everything you need to be happy and fulfilled is already within you and is yours…… How can I change these negative feelings into something more positive? What you focus on is the primary factor in how you feel. Are you focusing on the news or social media speaking of gloom and doom? Are you worrying about bills and living up to holidays of the past when times were abundant? Is there anything you can do about any of these things right now? If the answer is no, then change your focus to things you can control, such as cleaning your house, writing, reading, meditation and enjoying the company of the people you love the most. Try focusing on all the gratitude you have for the air in your lungs, the clothes on your back, food in your belly and most importantly, the people in your life who love you. You can find complete joyful bliss on just getting outside and appreciate a blade of grass, a rare winter flower, warm sun on your face, a lost little bee looking for something to pollinate, a hug, a smile, a hot cup of tea, your favorite song, a grilled cheese sandwich, an opportunity to help someone else. There are an unlimited number of opportunities to appreciate the beauty, and love all around and within you. Happiness is yours by divine right! Decide to claim it! Nothing can take it away from you, unless you let it. Take a few moments to breathe and ask yourself if the beliefs of the past, the old "stinkin’ thinkin’" is really true for you. Is that what you really want or do you want something else? You can change your thoughts….this is something you can learn to take control of. Isn’t that GREAT! When you change your thoughts, your focus, you change how you feel. There is the opportunity in every moment, to take stock, to adjust your journey and decide to be happy no matter what! Enjoy the Holidays!

With Love,

Pat and June
